About me
I believe that there are times when talking to someone who is trained to listen and care can help. Therapy is not suited to everyone but for those people who have a commitment to change and explore new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving, there is hope. Hope and a genuine rapport with a therapist, I believe is the greatest tool in achieving true potential...
I have a wealth of experience in counselling, having counselled clients from a number of Health Centres across Fife. In addition to counselling clients, I was responsible, as Chief Executive, for managing and supervising staff and counsellors of Fife Alcohol Support Service, one of the largest Counselling Services in Scotland. I specialise in couple work and relationship problems linked to low self esteem.
I have been privileged over the last 15 years in private practice to observe change in some clients who attend for therapy. Change is only achieved through the clients choice and willingness to change and this takes courage and I truly understand that.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained as a psychotherapist in Transactional Analysis, completed a Foundation Course in Family Therapy at Stratheden Hospital, and have a counselling and supervision qualification through Alcohol Focus Scotland.
I am accredited with British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and have a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling.
I have been in Private Practice for over 10 years and work from my home.
I was a member of the National Training Committee of Alcohol Focus Scotland and was responsible for assessing counsellor portfolios prior to awarding Diplomas.
As stated above, I managed an alcohol counselling service for 14 years and this experience forged the foundation for my training to become a psychotherapist.
Over 30 years I have worked with people at all levels, managing, training, supervising and counselling.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work from home and provide a safe and welcoming environment to clients who attend for therapy. My home is one of five terraced houses overlooking the sea, on a clifftop looking towards Edinburgh. There is off-street private parking or clients may park a short distance away at the bottom of the road for total anonymity.
My counselling room affords a quiet space where clients can feel safe that their confidentiality is assured.
I attend regular supervision for the work I do and work within BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
For more information I have a website www.anchoragecounselling.co.uk. Details of my fees are currently due to be updated on my website.
