About me
My goal is to help you explore the emotional questions in your life so that you can understand, with greater clarity, why you feel like you do. My practice offers a non-judgemental, confidential setting where we can reflect on what has brought you to this point in your life, and consider your potential to live differently in the future.
I pay close attention not only to your current concerns, but also the past experiences and relationships that shape them. Often, we view the present through a lens of the past, and can end up stuck in emotional patterns which are no longer appropriate or helpful. By reflecting on how these patterns have formed, therapy can help you to identify which aspects of your life you would like to hold onto, and which you would rather let go.
Before training as a therapist my background was in the arts and literature, and as a result I pay close attention to the narratives we construct to protect ourselves from pain. I am particularly interested in the conflict between our public and private selves, and the feelings of isolation and disconnection that can build as a result. My clinical experience includes working with people suffering from depression, persistent anxiety, relationship problems and low self-esteem, but I also understand that it can be difficult to put your finger on exactly what is wrong - this too can be a valid place to start.
I appreciate that the process of finding a therapist can be difficult, and it’s completely normal to be unsure or hesitant. You are welcome to call me for a complimentary fifteen minute phone call to discuss what you need. I welcome enquiries, and am ready to help you decide whether psychotherapy could be right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed an advanced 5 year training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the WPF and the British Psychotherapy Foundation, both leading training organisations with reputations for clinical excellence. Since then I have worked in a range of settings including the charity sector and community organisations, as well as in private practice.
I am fully accredited by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), the BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council), and I adhere to the highest ethical and clinical practice standards. I am also a professional member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC), and a member of the London Therapy Network.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

There’s a quote by the writer Annie Dillard which has always struck me: “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives”. In the same way I believe that who we allow ourselves to be in the fifty minutes of a therapy session - the honesty and bravery that we aspire to - can have a profound effect on how we can live the rest of our lives.
