About me

I'm Sam, an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor with extensive experience working with a range challenges people face throughout life.

You might be coming to therapy with a sense that something isn’t quite working, maybe patterns keep repeating, things feel stuck, or you’re carrying more than you can easily make sense of alone. I offer a calm, reflective space to slow things down and explore what’s going on, at a pace that feels manageable.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including trauma and attachment-related issues, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and the impact of past experiences. My work is relational and collaborative, with attention to both inner experience and the wider contexts that shape our lives.

If you're unsure on whether I'm the right therapist for you but want to know more, please visit the website or get in touch to discuss your needs and how I may be able to help.

I currently offer online counselling and psychotherapy for adults across the UK. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, with flexibility discussed where appropriate. All work is supported by regular clinical supervision and clear professional boundaries.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am a BACP accredited therapist and I aim to offer a thoughtful and containing therapeutic space where people feel able to explore their experiences without pressure to have everything worked out. I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels respectful of individual circumstances.

I welcome enquiries from people who are considering therapy and are unsure whether it is the right step. An initial conversation can help clarify whether my way of working feels like a good fit. Find out more at www.onedegreetherapy.co.uk
