About me
Hello, my name is Samantha, thank you for connecting with me. Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, if you are looking for a genuine, approachable and "down to earth" counsellor, then you have clicked on the right profile. I will listen with complete acceptance and you can be assured you will be treated with care, respect and empathy. Counselling offers somewhere to slow things down, feel heard and begin making sense of what is happening, at a pace that feels right for you.
I am a BACP registered integrative counsellor who takes a warm, compassionate and person centred approach. I believe that every person is unique, and therefore I tailor counselling to your individual needs, experience and goals. My aim is to create a compassionate, non judgemental space where you can feel truly heard, understood and accepted. You are free to explore what feels important to you. Together, we can explore what you're experiencing now, as well as how past experiences may be affecting your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and move towards purposeful lasting change.
I believe the therapeutic relationship, empathy, acceptance and genuineness are central to effective counselling. I also understand that everyone's experiences are different, so I tailor our work together to your individual needs, circumstances and goals. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel heard and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing.
Having spent many years working in education, I have developed extensive experience of supporting people through a wide range of personal, emotional and life challenges. My experience has taught me the importance of genuinely listening to people, meeting them where they are and recognising that everyone's circumstances and experiences are unique.
Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, overthinking, people-pleasing, work stress, family dynamics or life changes including menopause or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don't have to face it alone.
If you feel that I could be the right counsellor for you, please get in touch. I provide 1 to 1 counselling sessions in person, so if you are looking for a genuine, approachable counsellor, together we can help you to move forward and feel more like yourself again. Sometimes having someone truly listen can be the beginning of positive change.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Alongside my counselling practice, I have worked in education for many years in pastoral roles. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the challenges people can face at different stages of life and has developed my ability to listen, communicate and build trusting relationships.
I understand that choosing a counsellor is a very personal decision. For this reason, I offer a free 15 minute initial telephone conversation, giving us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have and see whether I might be the right counsellor for you.
There is no obligation to book a counselling session following our conversation. My aim is for you to feel comfortable and confident about taking the next step.
