About me

My clients describe me as genuine, empathic, caring, and down to earth. I'm here to listen and help you to feel safe and comfortable in the counselling process so that you can explore what you need to. And if you'd find it helpful; I can ask the right questions to create the movement and change you're looking for in how you feel, think or behave. I provide counselling for adult individuals, couples, parents, young people and children.

I can help with a wide range of struggles and situations, for example mental health, anxiety, depression, difficult emotions, anger, self-esteem, communication, change and transition, life stages, difficult relationships (or patterns within them), stuck-ness or relationship breakdown, stress & how human's respond, wellbeing & emotional resilience, and the impact of abuse or distressing events, to name a few. There is more information about further issues I can help with and details about me on my website if you'd like to take a look.

My approach is integrative which means I have lots of complementary ways of working to help bring about change for you, whether that's with your emotional health or in your relationships. I'll provide a compassionate space to talk over a long or short period. We can work with a specific focus in mind or more organically. I can work creatively and I also offer psychoeducation where appropriate.

Over 15 years experience; I have worked in a national counselling organization as a lead Counsellor, Supervisor and as a Digital Counselling Lead. I currently work in a private secondary aged school, and in the past have worked for a rape and sexual assault centre. I also hold my own private practice. For the length of my experience I have been working nationally via telephone, video-call, email and via instant messaging; as well as in person. We can explore how you'd like to work in your initial assessment. I'm qualified to level 6. I'm a Clinical Supervisor for other therapists, and a Counselling Trainer.

Please take a look at my website and feel free to get in touch. I'm more than happy to answer any questions or queries.

Testimonials

"Sam has been amazing; she is the greatest listener, extremely compassionate and professional, and made me feel safe and at ease minutes into the very first session. The advice and guidance she offered has been invaluable and I will take it with me for the rest of my life. I would recommend Sam to anybody looking for support/help; her warmth, kindness and skills are the best I’ve experienced in any counsellor yet." [Client of Couple Counselling]

"My counsellor has helped me improve so many different aspects of my life. Provided me with support and helped me identify where my problems were. With my counsellors help I work on these points all the time. I’ve overcome so much and wouldn’t have been able to do it without her help. I can’t thank her enough!" [Client]

"Sam has a very calm, professional and approachable persona. I have always found her to be supportive. Her knowledge of theory and applying this to practice has been so helpful in my own development" [Counsellor Supervisee]
