About me
Your anxious thoughts seem to be out of control. They spiral around in your head and you cannot think straight. You are no longer sure what you want or how you feel because the anxiety is in control of everything. You don’t know which way to turn.
Maybe the thoughts are about something traumatic that happened in the past. Maybe the thoughts stem from your current relationship and not knowing whether it is right for you anymore. Maybe you are coping through an addiction and you want to break free. You know that you are not happy.
I have helped clients in all of these situations. I have helped them learn how to control their anxious thoughts rather than be controlled. I have helped them to reach peace of mind and clarity over what they want and need. I have helped clients to process the past so that they can live a fulfilling life going forward and not resort to anger or addiction in order to cope.
You can find this freedom from anxiety as well. If you access counselling with me, we can work through your thoughts together and I can teach you how to take back control of your mind and your life. You can be happy again.
I am a counsellor. I am also a Mum, a wife, a yoga & cocktail lover (not usually at the same time!). I’m a book reader, a Trekkie and a secret Kit-Kat eater! Before I became a counsellor I worked as a business manager for 20 years. All of this experience gives me a wider perspective on understanding how you feel because I’m a real person. A person you can tell things to without being judged. A person you can tell secrets to safe in the knowledge they’ll be kept forever and a person who wants to understand how you really feel, without you having to pretend or filter what you say.
I want to help you feel better. Contact me now to get started straight away.
Training, qualifications & experience
I can offer different types of therapy depending on what is most appropriate for you. I provide person-centred therapy or CBT, but my preferred way of working combines both styles to provide tools to help you feel better quickly, but also address underlying issues that have led you to where you are now.
I am a patient, reassuring and empathic counsellor. I can be inquisitive and challenging when needed, to help you get to the bottom of is troubling you. I believe that the client-therapist relationship is at the heart of the counselling I provide, and we will work together to help you to feel better.
Life events and changes can bring out a number of unexpected and difficult emotions. I have extensive experience with issues of bereavement and grief, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse and self-confidence, to name but a few. I put the client at the heart of my work, and want to work with you on the journey of self-discovery and change that counselling provides. You deserve to be happy, and together we can make that happen.
I am qualified to degree level, and am a member of the BACP to ensure ethical practice.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am available throughout the week during normal working hours. When we first start, I will ask you some questions about yourself and the main issues that brought you to counselling. I will also explain more about how counselling works and what to expect. You can also ask any questions you might have. I want you to feel as comfortable as possible to get the most out of our sessions together.
