About me
Hello, I’m Saima, and I work as an integrative counsellor. My approach is flexible. I use the methods and techniques that feel right for you at the moment, guided by both your needs and my experience.
I understand that seeking therapy can feel strange or even scary, especially if you come from a background where it’s still seen as doubtful or taboo. I grew up in such an environment myself and remember wondering: “Can therapy really help? How could a stranger understand me?” That’s exactly why therapy works ... it’s a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely, without fear of being criticised or compared.
When you understand yourself better, you start to see your world and relationships more clearly.
I also know what it’s like to face identity challenges. Growing up across three different countries, speaking three languages, and often feeling unsure of where I truly belonged, I’ve experienced firsthand the struggle of navigating cultural expectations and personal identity. Through therapy, I’ve discovered that self-acceptance is the key ... once you can accept yourself, it becomes possible to accept your surroundings and feel grounded.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I believe that no single approach fits everyone, so I work integratively, tailoring therapy to meet each person’s needs and the depth of their experience.
I have worked with a wide range of client groups, including individuals facing anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, and identity concerns. My experience includes supporting refugees, as well as offering counselling to underprivileged and unemployed individuals. These roles have allowed me to develop a compassionate, culturally sensitive approach, helping clients feel understood, supported, and safe in exploring their thoughts and emotions.
In addition to my professional experience, I am fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi, which enables me to provide therapy to clients from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. I am committed to creating a non-judgmental space where clients can explore their feelings and experiences freely, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and personal growth.
I am passionate about helping people navigate the complexities of their lives, build confidence, and develop coping strategies to manage challenges effectively. My approach is flexible, empathetic, and client-focused, ensuring that every individual feels heard, respected, and empowered.
I continue to engage in ongoing professional development and supervision to ensure that my practice remains informed, ethical, and effective. I am excited to bring my skills, experience, and dedication to supporting clients through online counselling, helping them to better understand themselves and create positive changes in their lives.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
