About me
I’m Ruth, an Integrative Therapist with a passion for helping adults navigate life’s challenges, from anxiety and depression to grief, loss and trauma. I’m fascinated by what it means to be human and love working with adults from all walks of life.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for 20 years in the international aid world, across Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific, working with community groups to national governments and the United Nations. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for different cultures, contexts and perspectives, which I now bring into my therapeutic work. I’m also multilingual and seek to support clients whose first language isn’t English.
If you’re seeking a safe and supportive space to explore your feelings and find a way forward, I’m here to help. Together, we can work through your difficulties at a pace that feels right for you.
I offer short- and long-term weekly sessions, face-to-face in Gloucestershire, London and online, depending on what works best for you and making support accessible no matter where you are.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and integrate Person-Centred and Psychodynamic theories in a relational model. My therapeutic practice is trauma-informed.
I also hold a Certificate in Counselling Studies and have completed Cruse's Foundation Course in Bereavement Support.
I have completed a variety of training courses in the following areas: adverse childhood experiences; bereavement by suicide; children, grief and neurodivergence; children, trauma and grief; gender; intersectionality; learning disabilities and autism; perinatal loss; suicide; trauma; working with refugees and asylum seekers.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
