About me

You've made the first step, why not get in touch to see how I can help you?  I am a Senior Accredited counsellor with many years' experience working in the NHS, Hospice sector and in private practice.  I specialise in Cancer and Bereavement, and also work extensively with the loss of a baby or child.  In addition, I specialise in traumatic and sudden loss, including the death of somebody close during the Covid Pandemic.

Having worked for over 15 years for Macmillan Cancer Support in a busy London hospital and for 5 years in a Kent Hospice, I am extremely comfortable working with people with a serious illness, including those with terminal illness.  I also specialise in working with individuals and couples who have experienced the loss of a baby from Miscarriage to Stillbirth and including Neonatal loss.

I have supported many hundreds of bereaved families and have taught extensively on loss and grief throughout the UK.

Additionally, I have counselled people experiencing relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression, difficult upbringings, survivors of suicide and abuse in all its forms.

I am a qualified clinical supervisor which means I also offer professional support to fellow counsellors and therapists.  Currently, all of my practice is online (Zoom, Teams, FaceTime, WhatsApp, Google Duo) or by telephone.  I am aware that it takes great courage to make the first step and contact a relative stranger for emotional support.  I would be honoured if you were to place your trust in me.

Please feel free to email or call me using the buttons above.  Leave a message with clear details of how I can reach you at a time and space where you have some privacy.  I will do my best to contact you and explore how we could work together, or will gladly refer you to a colleague if I feel somebody else is better suited to your needs.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
