About me

Are you exhausted from constantly pushing the pain away because you feel you have no other way to deal with it? Do you feel caught in harsh and tormenting self-critical patterns you wish you could break free from? Or perhaps you are finding it difficult to cope with unexpected changes in your relationships, identity, work, or everyday life?

Whatever your reason for reaching out, you don't need to arrive with everything neatly explained. Sometimes people come with a clear reason for seeking support. For others, there is only the sense that things have become too difficult to carry alone.

Your time with me will be spent building a supportive, genuine therapeutic relationship where you, when you are ready, can feel safe to put down whatever has been burdening you.

A solid therapeutic relationship can help you better understand yourself, process difficult emotions or experiences, recognise confusing patterns that may no longer be serving you, and free you to begin finding ways forward that feel more authentic and personally fulfilling.

As an integrative counsellor with a person-centred foundation, I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you, while keeping the work centred around your individual experience and pace.

I work in a neurodiversity-affirming way and recognise that there is no single “right” way to communicate, process emotions, or move through the world. I also have extensive experience with mindfulness and can offer guidance on how mindfulness practices may support therapeutic work.

If you’re considering counselling and would like to see whether we might be a good fit, I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute consultation by phone.

Training, qualifications & experience

Credentials:

I have an Msc in counselling and Psychotherapy from Strathclyde and am registered with the BACP

Counselling for Grief and Loss:

While I work with all the issues listed on this profile, I have significant experience with clients who are struggling with grief, loss, and bereavement. There are many kinds of grief: perhaps you are facing a life-altering change in your health, the loss of a relationship, your role, your identity, and sense that life has denied you the future you imagined for yourself?

There is no "right" way to face something so complex and personal, but I can help you explore what your loss means to you and to find a way forward that honours who or what has been lost.

Mindfulness:

I have over ten years of experience in Vipassana meditation, commonly referred to as mindfulness. Guidance around this is available on request as it can be a fantastic addition to therapy, though there is no expectation that clients need to make use of this.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
