About me
My clients appreciate the friendly, practical approach and the aim to work towards clear goals from the outset, drawing on the powerful Human Givens synthesis of effective therapeutic ideas and practices. I've been practising as a therapist since 2001 and have worked with all kinds of challenges and all kinds of people, from millionaires to military veterans, from people in high power jobs to parents struggling to get by. I've also done very much work with children and teenagers. and originally trained as a teacher. I'm a qualified hypnotherapist and can integrate that modality where appropriate and agreed upon.
As also a professional storyteller/musician with 4 decades of experience, I draw on stories extensively in my work and have published books and articles on the subject of story and metaphor. I should add that it's also not forbidden to laugh in sessions and to sometimes even enjoy the process, even when working on deeply serious and painful issues!
Training, qualifications & experience
HG Dip. MHGI; D. Hyp. Psych (UK); SQHP
I have 21 years of private practice as a psychotherapist, counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist. I also did 6 years as a school counsellor, working with teenagers in a deprived area. I have extensive experience of working with the most common and many less common challenges with all ages, including young children. I have particularly extensive experience of working with PTSD and related anxiety and depressive conditions in military veterans, police and emergency service workers as well as in ordinary people who have suffered extreme experiences.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
