Integrative Counsellor, Registered MBACP, Dip TC, Cert Cs

About me

Hi and thank you for visiting my profile.

I am a BACP registered integrative counsellor with over 16 years of experience offering a confidential and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and personal experiences. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling with a specific issue or simply feel that something isn’t quite right, my aim is to help you understand your experiences and find ways to move forward.

I work with individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds supporting people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, stress, work-related challenges and many other emotional and personal challenges. I also support individuals affected by difficult or distressing life events including accidents, injury and trauma.

Therapy provides an opportunity to explore your experiences, gain a deeper understanding of what may be contributing to your difficulties and develop healthier ways of coping. I offer a compassionate and accepting approach giving you the time and space to make sense of what has happened and move forward with greater understanding, self-awareness and resilience.

I accept referrals for medico-legal and insurance-funded counselling and have an established practice providing counselling through ongoing partnerships with organisations including Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), solicitors, insurers and case managers. Where required and with informed consent I provide initial assessments, treatment summaries, progress updates and discharge reports and liaise with relevant third parties while always prioritising my clients’ wellbeing.

As an integrative counsellor I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to your individual needs and goals. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, person-centred counselling and solution-focused approaches allowing me to adapt therapy in a way that best supports you.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework. I receive regular clinical supervision and am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure I continue providing a high standard of care.

You’re very welcome to get in touch for a free 15-minute initial conversation or to ask any questions. This provides an opportunity to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy and explore whether working together feels like the right fit for you.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like further information or to book a session. You are welcome to contact me by phone, email or via my website.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Counselling session:
A session is 50 minutes long and begins at the time booked. Sessions are normally arranged on a weekly basis, at the same time and at the same place, but I offer some flexibility for those whose patterns of work or life are changeable.

I offer both short term (up to 12 sessions) and long term (open ended) counselling.

You are free to stop therapy at the time you choose. Notice of at least two weeks should normally be given before ending therapy, so we can review our work together and have an appropriate and safe ending.

An appointment missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged in full.

Additional information:
As well as my counselling qualification and experience I have also a background in delivering parenting courses/workshops with the focus on positive parenting and tips on how to make parenting more enjoyable and less stressful.
