About me

Firstly, thank you for looking at my profile. I am a qualified therapist, working with adults, children and families. Anxiety is a huge issue for a lot of young people at the moment so I work creatively with children, through play and creative therapy and I incorporate some elements of this when working with adults (everyone I have done this with likes it, I promise). I also support parents of children who are anxious, helping to improve your relationship, communicate better and set boundaries through a parenting programme based on Gandhi's peaceful protest, (NVR - Non-violence Resistance). This is also used where families are experiencing controlling and challenging behaviour from their child (such as either through violence, verbal abuse, behaviours relating to OCD or ASD). I love this programme and it has so many applications to all relationships in your life.

I can also support families who are experiencing relational problems, providing families with a space to work through any issues they are experiencing, helping you find the answers which fit your family.

In all of the work I do with people, I help you to find your own answers and I will support you along this journey in a safe and non-judgmental way.

On a personal level I am a mother of two children and have experienced the challenges of family life and all it entails.

Training, qualifications & experience

My passion is supporting parents, children and whole families, helping you to deal with challenges, anxiety, social media etc. I recognise the parenting journey can have challenges along the way and I will work alongside you to support you and help you find the way through.

When working with children I help support with a range issues, such as anxiety, ADHD or ASD, emotional regulation, self harm, low mood / depression and understanding OCD.

When working with parents, I help support when things are challenging with their child. I follow the NVR (non-violence resistance) programme which is designed to help parents manage when their child is either physically violent, verbally abusive, or for example their child's ASD or ADHD or self harm feels like they're walking on eggshells or like home is a battle for control, or that have lost all sense of their own needs.

When working with families we explore together what the problem is and how it is impacting your family life, providing a space for everyone to have their voice heard in a calm way.

When working with adults I help support in relational problems, low mood / depression, anxiety and relationships with unhelpful coping strategies.

I have worked with families for years, historically I ran two day nurseries, been a Homestart volunteer and worked in a local charity supporting families (young people, couples and whole families).

I am qualified to Level 5 in Psychotherapeutic counsellor

I have a level 5 in Integrative and Creative therapy.

I am qualified to Level 5 in Systemic Family therapy.

Foundation level NVR and group NVR practitioner

Myers Briggs qualified, which I blend in when working with adults and couples.

Additional training includes trauma and PTSD, self harm and neurological-diversity in the family.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
