About me

I am an experienced counsellor, accredited with BACP and hold the PCE-CfD qualification.   I am also training as an EMDR practitioner.

Sometimes life can take us down a road we don't expect to be on and we can find ourselves facing difficulties and challenges that can be overwhelming. Through counselling you have an opportunity to address some of the problems you are experiencing.

As you are the expert of your own life, as your Counsellor my role is not to offer advice or solutions but to be alongside you to listen, empathise, encourage and help you make sense of what is going on in the hope that you will feel empowered to make your own decisions that result in a positive change. My sessions are client led so it will be up to you to choose what you want to talk about and at a pace you are comfortable with.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship between Counsellor and Client is key. Together we can explore the issues and difficulties with your thoughts that are affecting you and that are impacting on your everyday life.

I trained in the psychodynamic approach, but as I have developed as a practitioner I now work as an integrative Counsellor, which means I draw from different approaches to best fit your needs.

I am qualified in the Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression approach (PCE-CfD), which is one of the NICE recommended therapies used within the NHS Talking Therapies (IAPT) service.

I work with adults.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice, BACP Accreditation and I am qualified in Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD)

In particular, I have done a lot of work with clients presenting with trauma.

I initially trained in the psychodynamic approach, but now work as am integrative Counsellor, so I will draw on different theories as best fits with you.

I am qualified in the Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression approach (PCE-CfD), which is one of the NICE recommended therapies used within the NHS Talking Therapies (IAPT) service.

I am currently training as an EMDR practitioner and having completed Part 1 of my training I am now able deliver EMDR therapy to clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
