About me

Are you experiencing pain and confusion regarding a relationship? This could be a romantic relationship, a friendship, colleague or someone in your family.
Thinking about what led to a relationship ending, or how an existing relationship was damaged, can bring up a variety of feelings. You may feel:

  • depressed, anxious,
  • lonely, ashamed, guilty
  • confused, or angry,

or a combination of all these emotions, maybe all at once!

When we are facing difficulties in our relationships, we can feel isolated and lonely, even when we’re with others. Confusion around why a relationship ended can have a negative impact on our self-esteem, you may blame yourself for the end of the relationship. You may feel a great sense of loss for the life that you had before your relationship was damaged.
Perhaps you are worried about the practical implications of your relationship ending, such as changes to your finances, having to move home or change childcare arrangements. These anxieties may prevent you from getting enough sleep. Concentrating on tasks might be difficult because your worries preoccupy your thoughts. This preoccupation may make you short-tempered with those around you, causing further anxiety and feeling insecure in other relationships.
Painful past relationships may be preventing you from forming trusting and meaningful new relationships or, perhaps you find yourself repeating the same painful, unhelpful patterns.
I understand the sense of loss, confusion and worry that comes with the end of significant relationships. Regardless of how long ago you lost your relationship, I will walk alongside you, to provide a non-judgmental, compassionate space to explore difficulties, to make sense of them, and find peace so that you can build a future that is meaningful to you.

I work in a predominantly person-centred way. This means that I believe that you are the expert in your lived experience. I will help to find solutions that are tailored to your unique experiences and circumstances. Therefore, we might decide that CBT or Humanistic approaches could help. I celebrate individuality and am passionate about helping clients find a way forward that makes sense to them.

My previous career in care and early years has given me a wealth of experience in building trusting relationships and developed my natural propensity towards empathy. I appreciated the trust that family members place in carers to protect and nurture their loved ones and understand the sadness and guilt that can come with handing over care to someone unknown. This taught me the importance of building trusting, honest and non-judgemental relationships.

I can help you:
Understand how the past impacts on your present life, so you can be more compassionate to yourself.
Develop confidence and self-esteem so that you can trust your instincts and choices
Understand and express how you feel so that you can communicate more effectively, feel heard, less frustrated & have better relationships.
Plan the future that you want & break free from societal or family expectations to be myself.

Let's work together to identify patterns that might be holding you back and understand how they affect your life now. By spotting and changing these patterns, I aim to help you grow and feel better emotionally. Our journey will help you embrace who you are and handle life's challenges with confidence. Whether you're dealing with past traumas or need support with planning a fulfilling future, I provide a safe, supportive space where you can make meaningful changes. Let's take this step towards healing and self-discovery, making sure you feel valued and heard every step of the way.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
