About me

Hello,

If you are looking for counselling and support then I offer a safe and compassionate space for you to talk. I work very relationally which means getting to know you and building a trusting is relationship the cornerstone of my practice.

I am qualified in person centred counselling and CBT which can complimentary together depending on what you need.

I am also qualified in the rewind technique for trauma, which has been proven highly effective at reducing symptoms such as flash backs, nightmare, recurring thoughts and images. If you find that you have set thoughts or images linked to an event that can feel like it plays over and over, this can be a very successful treatment.

I am also a qualified Imago couples therapist. (see below for further details)

I am also a qualified clinical supervisor and offer supervision to other counsellors. I can support counsellors from most modalities including CBT.

(I offer discounted student rates for supervision.)

I have worked with clients from different backgrounds and with many different presenting issues, and each person is truly unique in their experiences. I am passionate about supporting people in finding themselves and getting to a place where you can achieve your therapy goals.

I offer open-ended counselling therapy, so whether you are looking for support during an immediate crisis, or you are on a longer journey of self-discovery, it would be a privilege to walk beside you.

Imago Couples Therapy.

Imago couples therapy teaches partners how to get the love they want. It encourages couples to move from an I-It relationship, where they objectify or distance themselves from each other, (often blaming the other for how they feel), or treating each other as tools, to an I-Thou relationship.

I understand that counselling can be daunting, so I offer a totally free 15 minute, initial phone consultation so that you can ask any questions that you would like, and tell me briefly what is bringing you to counselling. I can tell you a little bit about the first session and you can see if you think we are the right fit.

I offer 1 hour, face-to-face (or Zoom) counselling sessions as follows;

Individual sessions are charged at £60 an hour payable in advance

Couples sessions are charged at £90 for 90 minutes payable in advance

Supervision is £70 for an hour and £90 for 90 minutes

About me....

I am very much a geek in all senses of the word, I like video games, reading fantasy novels, boardgames, knitting, cross stitch, Battlestar Galactica, Red Dwarf, Lord of the Rings and The Office. Sometimes I think I collect hobbies as a hobby!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
