About me
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. My name is Rachel and I am here to listen, my question for you is, do you feel heard? Being genuinely heard by someone, who is non-judgemental and empathic, can be an extremely powerful experience. You may be struggling with feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad or angry, or maybe something else entirely but the important thing is that you don’t have to manage it alone. I can provide a safe space for you to share whatever it is that life has thrown at you and we will go completely at your own pace.
I am a person-centred counsellor, which means that we will work together to talk through your problems. It is a non-directive type of talking therapy which means that I will not be telling you what to do or giving you advice or solutions. It is my belief that you know yourself better than anyone else and my role is to guide you on your journey.
I offer open-ended counselling therapy, so whether you are looking for support during an immediate crisis, or you are on a longer journey of self-discovery, it would be a privilege to walk beside you.
I understand that counselling can be daunting, so I offer a totally free 15 minute, initial phone consultation so that you can ask any questions that you would like, and tell me briefly what is bringing you to counselling. I can tell you a little bit about the first session and you can see if you think we are the right fit.
I offer 1 hour, face-to-face (or Zoom) counselling sessions as follows;
Sessions are charged at £50 an hour payable in advance
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and bound by their ethical framework.
I have a degree in Psychology and Masters degree in Childhood and Youth
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
