About me
Hello and welcome. I’m Rachel, a Dorset based counsellor who provides therapy for adults (age 18+).
I believe that we all deserve someone who can listen to us with compassion and without judgement when we need it. That’s where I come in. We aren’t supposed to do this alone.
In sessions together I provide a warm and explorative space where you can be heard, understood and supported. Together we can make sense of what feels difficult in your world, bringing you deeper insight into your feelings, behaviours and relationships so you can live the best life you can.
My approach to counselling is humanistic integrative and I’ll draw on various theories and models in our work together, tailoring my approach based on what we discover works for you and always working at your pace. This might include breathwork and other body based or somatic tools that help to tend to both your mind and body.
Next steps
- I offer telephone, online and in-person counselling (in Westbourne and Christchurch - Dorset)
- Email me to ask any questions you might have or to book a free introductory 20 minute call - this is an opportunity to talk about what you would like to gain from counselling and ask any questions you might have
Training, qualifications & experience
- I am a fully-qualified integrative therapist with a L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, MBACP
- I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
- I adhere to the strict ethical and professional codes of the BACP and fulfil their requirements for ongoing supervision of my practice
- I continue to develop my skills and knowledge through regular CPD (continuous professional development)
- Most recently I achieved a certificate in working with complex trauma
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
