About me

Life can feel overwhelming at times with demands on you from relationships, work and difficult life events or just a sense that something is not right. If you are feeling anxious, depressed, finding it tough to deal with bereavement, family and relationship issues or dealing with life transitions, self-esteem, health and well-being, counselling can help. It can take courage to reach out  but you will be met by me with empathy and acceptance.

My practice is relational, based on a Person-Centred approach, which means that the work we do together is led by you. My work is also informed by attachment theory which helps us to understand how we form and maintain relationships, providing insight into relationship patterns and how we can make  changes to these.

I have had training in Transactional Analysis which provides insight into  patterns of communication and can aid you in finding alternative ways of being.

My aim is to provide a safe empathic space where you feel heard and supported and able to express how life feels for you. My training and experience enable the support I provide to be personal to you, tailored to meet your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University and have completed the Introduction to Transactional Analysis with Northside Training. My counselling experience includes working with clients in a GP surgery. I completed a CPD module in mentoring and coaching (masters level) at Bradford College.

I have experience working with adults over the age of 18, coping with anxiety, depression, bereavement, dealing with illness, trauma, and family/relationship issues.  Always with a non-judgmental approach, I can help you explore and gain insight into your thoughts, feelings and experiences and I will work alongside you to find ways to make changes and help you to gain a sense of balance in life that can make you feel better.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
