About me

The relationship between you and your counsellor is key to your therapy journey. You need to feel that you are heard, understood and valued. It is therefore important that you find the right counsellor for you.  Making sure my clients are comfortable and feel safe is hugely important to me.

The type of therapy I offer is bespoke to suit you and your needs, adapting a style and technique that best fits to you and your personality.  I offer a non judgemental space with my main aim to support you, set goals and to gain awareness around behaviours ultimately to improve your satisfaction with life.

You might come to see me for a variety of reasons. You may be facing a life-changing event that has created shock or grief. You may be experiencing feelings of depression and isolation, low self-esteem, or suffering from feelings of anxiety without fully understanding why. There may be events from your past that are preventing you from living your life in the way you would like to.

You may be experiencing a lack of direction, feelings of boredom or of being trapped. Perhaps you are experiencing difficulties in a significant relationship, that you are unable to manage in a healthy way. These ongoing issues, without the knowledge and/or support of how to overcome them, is possibly leaving you feeling lost and trapped. You may be aware of self-destructive patterns occurring in your life which are causing you, or those around you, pain.

Extreme feelings such as anger, shame, guilt, sadness or loneliness may be affecting your daily life, keeping you stuck in an uncomfortable place.

Single session therapy is a service to help you work through a specific issue quickly. It's perfect for individuals who can identify one specific skill they want to build or problem they want to work on. It's perfect for those who want to strengthen their relationship, but don't think their area of concern needs to be addressed over the traditional eight sessions of counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling from The Northern Guild in the North East.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

My area of interest is working with farmers and rural workers. I currently offer a drop in centre at Crooklands Auction Mart once a month assisting the nurses on health check days. Farmers have so much to contend with from the weather, political/media influences most of which is out of their control. Breaking down stigmas that surround mental health especially with farmers is hugely important to me.
