About me

We can all get stuck in ways of thinking and looking at things that no longer work for us. Sometimes this can lead to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, overeating or addictions. Therapy can be very helpful in understanding what is happening and finding a way forward. I have worked as a Psychologist for over 15 years in the NHS and in private practice. I work on a short to medium term basis, often working towards goals that are important to you. I offer therapy on the telephone and zoom.

I am currently writing a journal to help manage stress, anxiety and worry - coming soon!

*I am currently offering zoom or telephone sessions I am not offering in person appointments.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Chartered Counselling Psychologist and an associate fellow of the British Psychological Society, I trained integratively however my main models are EMDR, CBT, ACT and I use mindfulness techniques in my work.

I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist and I am a CBT therapist accredited by the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies. I have completed training in EMDR (Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing) which is a form of therapy useful for helpful clients with trauma and other conditions. My work in the NHS has involved client work but also supervising colleagues and helping to manage an IAPT service. I have also worked with the police offering EMDR.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
