About me
I offer counselling for people aged 16 and over, providing a calm, supportive and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly, make sense of what you are experiencing and begin to understand what you may need.
I work psychodynamically, which means that as well as thinking about what is happening in your life now, we may also explore past experiences and relationships. Sometimes earlier experiences can continue to affect how we feel, how we see ourselves and how we relate to others in the present. By exploring these patterns together, we can begin to understand what may be happening for you in a deeper way.
I particularly welcome young people and university students who may be navigating pressures around education, relationships, identity, independence, family life or decisions about the future.
People come to me for many different reasons including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, school or university stress, post natal concerns and family or relationship difficulties.
You do not need to have a diagnosis or even know exactly what is wrong before coming to counselling. Sometimes simply knowing that things do not feel right is enough of a place to begin.
If we decide to work together, we will meet weekly for 50-minute sessions at the same time and place each week. This regular space allows us to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and explore what is happening for you at a pace that feels manageable.
Together, we can begin to make sense of your experiences without judgment or pressure to have all of the answers.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at the Counselling Foundation, where I complete a diploma in Contemporary Psychodynamic Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in according with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I am an experience counsellor and regularly work with a range of personal and emotional difficulties. I work closely with a clinical supervisor, ensuring that my practice remains reflective, ethical and focussed on providing safe and effective support to my clients.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
