About me
Hello, I’m Rachael, an integrative therapist (BACP registered) offering a warm, supportive, and safe environment where you can explore the challenges and issues that may be troubling you. Qualified to work with individuals and couples (Relate Relationship Counsellor), I will accompany you to explore your past and present experiences and relationships to gain greater acceptance and self-awareness. I believe that with the right tools, support, and understanding, we all have an innate capacity to grow and create meaningful change. Our work together will be collaborative, and my goal is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship that empowers you to achieve your personal goals and enhance your sense of well-being.
I have experience in supporting individuals and couples with a range of emotional and psychological needs and have a particular interest in relationships, parenting, family dynamics, life transitions/challenges, anxiety, self-esteem and depression. I aim to provide a supportive, non-judgemental and confidential environment by offering both short and long-term counselling in person in Clifton, Bristol, or online.
Short term counselling will enable us to focus on the more immediate issues you are experiencing, whilst longer term work will allow us to explore how your past experiences may be affecting your current difficulties. My intention is to help you feel safe and empowered whilst supporting you to explore new ways of being and relating to others.
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach according to each of my client’s specific concerns and needs, utilising a variety of approaches. My work is rooted in a person-centred foundation, emphasizing my belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to direct but to support you in making sense of your experiences at your own pace. Clients experience this approach as both empowering and effective.
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to healing, which is why I offer a free initial consultation. This allows you to determine if I’m the right therapist for you. Feel free to contact me if you’d like more details or to schedule a fifteen minute introductory phone call.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training is in person-centred, relational and systemic therapy. I am fully committed to an on-going programme of professional development in order that I keep developing my skills. Following a number of years of training and gaining agency experience, I was awarded a distinction for my Degree in Integrative Counselling with the University of Plymouth. I also have a Post-Qualifying Certificate in Relationship Therapy, which enables me to work with couples as well as individuals with a relational focus.
My qualifications enable me to work with a variety of therapeutic approaches, including, humanistic, integrative, psychodynamic, attachment, relational, systemic, transactional analysis, creative therapy and mindfulness.
I have worked in a number of counselling roles and specific areas of client work have included peri-natal mental health, parenting, life transitions, menopause, anxiety and depression, and loss.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. I receive regular supervision in line with their requirements.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
