About me

Affordable, accessible, inclusive counselling from Portsmouth UK.

Are you waking up full of anxiety or dread? Can't stop crying? No energy and feeling exhausted? Is the world overwhelming and lacking joy? Are you finding it hard to continue as you used to? Struggling with feelings of guilt or resentment?

I help people who are feeling down, low, exhausted and burnt out, struggling with procrastination, self-image and unsure about how they fit into the world.

I have achieved excellent results with clients working towards self-esteem improvement.

I came to work in counselling after benefitting from years of personal therapy, and I see counselling as one of the most rewarding experiences of my life so far, as a client and as a practitioner.

I work with affordability, accessibility and inclusion at the forefront of my practice. This means that I keep my prices as affordable as possible, I welcome people from all walks of life, and I try to offer appointments at varying times of day with weekend slots.

A session with me will centre your feelings and what you bring to counselling, perhaps examining patterns, your true core values and what you’re holding on to but might want to let go. I work in a relational style, this looks like nurturing a warm and open atmosphere in our sessions, which leads to feeling valued, understood and your freedom of expression in a judgment free zone.

By the end of our work together you can expect better self-esteem and confidence, improved anxiety and depression and new ways to manage stress and hardship due to a deeper understanding of yourself.

I believe that your goals and what you aim to gain from therapy are unique to you and are equally as important to me.

Book a free introductory call at the top of this page to see if we'd make a good fit! We can discuss your current feelings and situation, your goals, what you'd like to get out of counselling, what you need in a therapist, a little about me and any questions you might have.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified in person-centred counselling.

I have experience working in the NHS and within a student wellness service.

I have completed extra training and research in safeguarding, suicide prevention and postvention, shadow work and spirituality, neurodiversity, binge eating, body neutrality, and gender dysphoria.

I am always continuing my learning with extra training, at the moment I am working on extra counselling modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR.

Before I trained as a counsellor, I wanted to become a doula, which means I have completed some doula training. I am passionate and educated about supporting mothers, pre- and postpartum.

I have spent years campaigning against war and for the rights of women, the LGBTQIA+ community and those fleeing global conflict - I have regularly volunteered with people seeking asylum in our beautiful sanctuary city.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

My sessions cost £40 per counselling hour (50 minutes). I accept bank transfer prior to each appointment. I know that this is a financial commitment, and for this reason, we can discuss fortnightly instead of weekly sessions. We can also look into working together short-term, instead of open-ended, for a fixed period of time, so that you can plan financially around this.

I have a few weekly slots available for concessionary rates. Concessions are considered for postpartum mothers/mothers with young kids, student counsellors and disabled individuals. Enquire with me, and we can work something out.
