About me

Hi my name is Pete. I am a General Therapist with experience with a wide variety of issues, I specialise in working with ADHD, Negative self talk and recovering from negative childhood influences (emotional abuse, bullying, neglect, etc).

I work with my clients using a range of strategies pulled from:

The active approach of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help people combat problematic thoughts and behaviours.

The explorative and collaborative approach of Person Centred Therapy to uncover the emotions fuelling the problematic thoughts and behaviours and to help clients heal the pain from the experiences that started it all.

I work from a base of a person centred and relational approach. That means building a relationship with you and exploring issues together, building an understanding of what the problem is.

It's then about mapping out how we will work to tackle those problems, forming an agreement between us for how to work together moving forward.

I believe the biggest and hardest step is asking for help. It's especially hard when the people around you don't seem to understand why you can't just magically act differently, feel differently.

I'm very much an optimist, I believe that if we work at it we can always change and overcome what holds us back. I encourage you to take that first step.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
