About me

Life doesn’t always give us time to pause — therapy does.

I am an Integrated Counsellors, meaning I use a range to approaches, along with all of my expertise and experience to support clients through often complex and emotive emotional challenges.

I offer a space just for you to explore, unpick, unpack and make sense of whatever feels heavy or confusing right now. Whether you’re navigating life changes, healing from past experiences, or wanting to feel more grounded and present in your own world, you don’t have to do it alone.

To help you decide whether I’m the right counsellor for you, I offer a free 15–20 minute introductory call — a gentle opportunity to talk things through and get a feel for how we might work together. I warmly invite you to get in touch and see how I can best support you.

A Safe, Steady Space

My role is to offer a calm, grounded environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. You don’t need to prepare anything or arrive with the “right words” — simply come as you are. Together, we will take time to explore what ever you bring.

Therapy with me can be short or long term, focused on the past, present or future — whatever feels most helpful for you. My approach is warm, steady and professional, and each session is tailored to your unique needs. Together, we’ll work towards clarity, resilience and a renewed sense of balance.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an MBACP Accredited Counsellor (qualified in 2004) and Clinical Supervisor, bringing over 20 years of experience, curiosity and instinct to my work. My approach is Integrative and always shaped around your goals and needs. My style is gentle, intuitive and grounded — and my personality a little quirky — offering you the healing experience of being met with warmth, honesty and without judgement.

I am a BUPA recognised Therapist

Supervision

I provide Clinical Supervision for counsellors and therapists — trainees and experienced practitioners — as well as other professionals. My supervision style is collaborative, reflective and supportive, with a strong respect for your experience, expertise and personal goals. Together, we’ll ensure supervision strengthens your clinical work, professional development and wellbeing.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I qualified as a Counsellor in 2004, achieved Accreditation in 2016, and completed my Clinical Supervision training in 2022. I have continued to develop professionally throughout my career.

Since 2016, I have worked within Durham University, supporting students, employees and trainee counsellors from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and life stages. This rich and diverse environment has deepened my understanding of the many challenges people face — and the support they often need to move towards emotional calm and improved wellbeing.

My extensive experience in Higher Education means I am well equipped to support students, staff and adults connected with academic settings.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

What to Expect

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, so I aim to make the process as calm and straightforward as possible. From the moment you get in touch, you’ll be met with warmth, clarity and a steady pace that suits you.

Before Your First Session

You’re welcome to book a free 15–20 minute introductory call. This is a gentle, no‑pressure conversation where you can share what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.

Your Initial Session

Your first full session lasts 60 minutes. We’ll explore what you’d like support with, what you hope to gain from therapy, and what feels most important right now. There’s no expectation to share everything at once — we go at your pace. Together, we’ll begin shaping a way of working that feels safe, manageable and meaningful for you.

Ongoing Sessions

Each session is tailored to your needs. Some people come weekly, others fortnightly, and some prefer sessions spaced further apart depending on availability, finances or emotional capacity. Therapy can be short‑term, long‑term, time‑limited or even a single session — whatever supports you best.

•          In person in Sedgefield, County Durham (TS21)
