About me

My Approach:

I am an Accredited Counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. As a qualified Integrative Counsellor with over fifteen years’ experience. I have worked with many people from all different types of backgrounds. I have witnessed them find new hope and positive change through the client centred counselling process I use.

My Integrative approach is confidential and non-judgmental, sensitive and tailored to your individual needs. I draw from a range of approaches to provide the right support for your Therapy.

My Service Best Foot Forward Counselling:

The first session whether you are an individual or Couple, is an informal assessment whereby we get to know each other, which can be quite therapeutic in itself. I offer both short term Therapy which is 6 sessions, or a longer term open ended contract if you require. The number of sessions you may require will be discussed. I feel it's important that we review your progress regularly, to see how the Therapy is going.

Couples:

Along with Individual Counselling, I also offer Counselling for Couples and work in an Integrative way, allowing each partner to be heard. Whilst I am not invested in any particular outcome, I have often found that through counselling, couples have found new healthier ways of communicating with each other, enabling them to move forward in their lives.

Telephone Counselling:

I consider offering telephone counselling, if people are not able to come to the session. This is best done when there are no alternatives. I am offering telephone support during the Coronavirus outbreak for those people who do not feel safe with face to face contact. Fees are at a reduced rate, but will need to be paid in advance.

Area:

My main private practice location, is from a BACP Accredited Practice based in Colchester. However, I also work out of a G.P surgery in Witham and a private location, covering Maldon, Witham, Braintree, Chelmsford, Heybridge, Tiptree and surrounding areas.

Professional Membership:

As an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, I abide by their ethical frameworks. I also have full professional Indemnity Insurance, and I am committed to ongoing Personal and Professional Development.

About Best Foot Forward Counselling:

By using Best Foot Forward Counselling Service, my aim is to provide you with an opportunity to explore what is going on for you, to gain understanding, how you have come to feel the way you are, and why you may respond the way you do. Whether it's a current situation, or past memory/experience that you are struggling with, I will support you in finding your own ways to move forward. So start by making those small changes today. "Best Foot Forward" life is too short to be unhappy, value yourself, don't you deserve to be free of troubles.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
