About me

Hello, my names Trish and welcome to my profile.

Life can sometimes feel hard to bare  and the thought of facing these challenging and difficult times on your own can feel overwhelming. As a person centred counsellor, my aim is to help you explore and work through these difficulties. I can guide you to navigate a way to better recognise the issues you are experiencing and help you explore ways in which you may start to move forward towards a happier, more peaceful and fulfilling way to live your life.

Many of us cope by holding onto our feelings for fear of burdening others with our problems. We may feel daunted at the prospect of sharing what’s really going on beneath the surface with regards our deeper thoughts and feelings for fear of being judged and not understood. I offer an empathic, non-judgmental, confidential, safe space to help you feel valued, heard, understood and respected unconditionally throughout your counselling experience/journey.

By working collaboratively with you in this tailored way we will be able to recognise your issues and work towards your goals whilst enabling you to consider potential solutions and ways to move forward.

Sometimes you may seek therapy for things that are going on in the present and at times you may want to explore things from the past that are deep rooted and difficult to talk about. Acknowledging these difficult events is the first step to exploring them and peeling back the layers from the past in order to be able to move forward more positively in the future.

I have experience working with a range of issues including Cancer, Anxiety, Abuse, Trauma, Loss, Relationships, Self esteem, Stress, specialising in working with those suffering with cancer and also their family members in need of support due to the effects it can have on them.

I appreciate that seeking support can be a difficult step to take and you may have reservations regarding accessing therapy and sharing what’s going on for you with a stranger. I am also aware that the relationship between therapist and Client must be a comfortable one where trust and rapport can be built. With this in mind, I offer a free-of-charge 20 minute initial first consultation via online or telephone. This will give us a chance to discuss what your needs are and how I can help should you decide to proceed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a level four diploma in therapeutic counselling (CPCAB) and specialise in Person Centred therapy.

I am a registered member of the MBACP British Association for counselling and psychotherapy of BACP and am bound by and adhere to the Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions and good practice and am also subject to its professional conduct procedures.

I have experience working with Adults, Children, Older adults and Young people with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, relationship problems and specialise in working with those suffering with cancer and also their family members in need of support during difficult times.

I have my own private practice and also volunteer for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity as a counsellor working with those affected by cancer. I have also volunteered at SPARK UK in Loughton mentoring Children and young people.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
