About me

During this world changing coronavirus crisis I am currently offering counselling by video and phone sessions in order to continue offering the support and help needed in this unprecedented time of overwhelming anxiety, loss and change. For some people Covid-19 will be the first time they have ever encountered stress and anxiety of this level. For others who have suffer from stress and anxiety before, then this crisis could be stirring up old memories/anxieties and exacerbating their difficulties. Whichever group you fall into these difficulties are real and distressing so do not be afraid to reach out for help. I can help you manage you worries and teach you skills and strategies to help you get through this time of change, so that you feel stronger and able to cope more effectively.

I am an experienced, senior accredited counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotheray (BACP).

I believe that choosing a therapist who is right for you individually can be very difficult and I do not believe in clients simply coming to me to cure them. Rather I feel counselling is a collaborative process where I can help clients develop the skills and strategies they need to equip them for life's stresses, traumas and ever changing circumstance, as well as providing an independent ear to listen without passing judgement. This approach I believe helps people live and enjoy a much happier and fulfilling life-style.

I have 14+ years experience in a wide range of issues and have worked in a wide range of settings, including the NHS both long term secondary care and GP practice, with a nationally affiliated mental health charity and private practice.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
