About me

Imagine a safe, confidential, containing space where together we explore what brings you to therapy and how your past experience sheds light on your life today.

The relationship between us becomes this space. Healing can happen here. With curiosity we seek meaning and increasing perspective on your situation, using what happens in the sessions between us to provide clues and insights into understanding more about what is important to you, your life and experience.

I hold an awareness of difference and diversity. I will work with you appropriately to address how cultural conditioning and context plays out in your life.

I help you access resources you already have, and identify other resources to draw on that can help you face life's challenges. I keep a balance between holding and challenging you.

We work together to understand pain and suffering as the soul’s call for attention.

According to your preference we use imagination, stories, dreams, creativity, the felt sense of the body. Together we may wonder about links between world issues, societal issues and what you face in your life today.

I draw on my experience of meditation and mindfulness to encourage us into our bodies. This is particularly helpful for managing chronic pain, illness or stress.

I have trained as a death doula and can support you if you are facing bereavement, loss or death.

You are welcome to contact me to arrange an initial counselling session with me.

The sessions are weekly 50-min sessions held at Therapy Space East, EC2 close to Old Street station or in Bethnal Green, 5mins from Bethnal Green tube station.

It is a big step to take to meet a counsellor for the first time. I will invite you to bring what you feel comfortable to share about yourself and what you are wanting from counselling. I will tell you how we can work together. This session will give you an opportunity to find out if you feel comfortable with me and to ask any questions you have about counselling with me.

I will explain the client agreement form which includes the practicalities of the sessions and my confidentiality policy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained for three years and have two years of experience of practise. I am a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor and abide by their ethical and professional standards.  I have regular supervision. I use an integrative method, drawing on Transpersonal,  Jungian,  Psychodynamic and Gestalt approaches.

I worked as a  nursery school teacher for 19years.

I have studied and practised Buddhist philosophy for 27 years including studying Buddhist psychology. I teach meditation and Buddhism and co-lead retreats.

Studying art for 10years, I explored spirituality and aesthetics through painting and printmaking.

I set up and ran a highly successful charity shop with a friend for 7 years which is thriving still.

I trained to teach mindfulness for chronic pain, illness and stress and have helped many people manage their pain and illness better over the pandemic.

I also trained as a death doula and a birth doula.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
