About me

                                            MY PRACTICE IS NOW HYBRID

I AM WORKING USING ZOOM, PHONE, FaceTime or Face to Face.

I have a practice in Wokingham Berkshire and Harley Street London. I have over 25 years of experience working in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. I use an eclectic approach in my practice, this means I can adapt my skills to the needs of individual clients rather than the client having to adapt and fit into my approach.

I work with both brief solution focused therapeutic approaches and open-ended long term basis. I have extensive experience working with addictions using the 12 step model alongside more traditional approaches to counselling.

I also have experience of working with clients with a variety of issues including;

• relationship issues • stress  • low self-esteem  • depression •anxiety  • panic attacks  • self-confidence  • self-harm

•  anger  • bereavement  • work-related issues

I believe that my clients have the answers to ease whatever anxiety or chaos they may be experiencing. Using the counselling time to explore issues in a non-threatening 'safe' environment can give clients the opportunity to explore feelings and fears.

I hope to offer a supportive environment that empowers the client to look at 'how' they are living their life and reflect on whether this is what they want or, what they think they should be doing. They can then move towards leading a more fulfilling and contented life.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Supervisor Collaboration

The importance of Supervision for our counselling work is a concept that is understood ethically and also to ensure the Normative, Formative and Restorative needs we have are being met.

The Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions tells us the following as part of the Supervision section.

62. Supervision requires additional skills and knowledge to those used for providing services directly to clients. Therefore supervisors require adequate levels of expertise acquired through training and/or experience. Supervisors will also ensure that they work with appropriate professional support and their own supervision.

My practice offers dedicated space for supervisors to bring their supervision work for Collaboration to ensure continued professional and personal development.
