About me

Welcome and thank you for checking out my page. You may have landed here for any number of reasons, whether life events have presented challenges to your wellbeing, you are experiencing difficulties with your mental health, or something just does not feel quite right in yourself or your world.

As a qualified counselling psychologist, I am trained and experienced in a number of ways of supporting people as they navigate all kinds of human difficulties and questions. I have worked across multiple settings including the NHS, charities, universities and occupational health teams, and supported individuals with relationship breakdowns, bereavements, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety and panic attacks. Though I believe diagnoses can be helpful for some people to understand what is happening for them and get the support they need in the systems they operate in, I do not need to diagnose you to help you and you do not need a diagnosis to receive support from me.

Whilst I can offer specific therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioural, compassion-focussed and person-centred therapy, I am primarily concerned with what is most helpful to you at this particular moment in time (it’s your therapy, not mine). You may not be quite sure what you need, or even know what is contributing to your current difficulties. I will work with you to figure this out to inform our sessions together.

I do offer a human presence in my practice, having gone through a bit of life myself. I strive to orient myself towards anti-oppressive practice, and welcome people from all backgrounds to my therapy room. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ communities and my doctoral research is centred around mixed-race identity. It’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist, and I am happy to arrange a free ten-minute phone call if you would like to get a feel for each other before meeting for the first time.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Please let me know if you have any accessibility requirements. I can arrange step-free access and a downstairs therapy room, and will do my best to accommodate any other needs.
