About me
Do you notice a knot in your stomach or a heaviness in your chest that becomes harder to ignore when the world is quiet?
Perhaps you lie awake at night replaying conversations, worrying about the future, or questioning your place in the world and with other people.
During the day, you might find yourself tending to others’ needs first, holding back what you truly feel, and feeling guilty when you try to take up space.
If you’re LGBTQ+, these feelings can be even more complex - especially if you’ve experienced not feeling fully accepted, safe, or understood. You might feel like you don’t quite belong, or like you’ve had to adapt yourself in order to be accepted by others.
If any of this resonates, you’re not alone - and there are very understandable reasons these patterns develop.
What I help with
I work with adults who are struggling with:
- Constant self-doubt and feeling “not good enough”
- People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
- Harsh self-criticism and shame
- Feeling disconnected from yourself
- Anxiety, low mood, and emotional overwhelm
- The lasting impact of difficult or traumatic experiences
How therapy can help
Our work together can help you to:
- Feel more confident expressing your needs, without overwhelming guilt
- Trust your own thoughts and feelings, instead of constantly second-guessing yourself
- Develop a kinder, less critical relationship with yourself
- Feel more grounded and present in your day-to-day life
- Build a stronger sense of self-worth and inner stability
LGBTQ+ affirming therapy
I’m a queer therapist, and supporting LGBTQ+ adults is something I care deeply about.
Whether you’re exploring identity, working through internalised shame, navigating relationships, or trying to make sense of your place in the world - therapy with me can be a space where you don’t have to justify who you are.
You don’t need to be part of the LGBTQ+ community to work with me. I welcome people of all identities and backgrounds.
How I work
I offer a warm, non-judgemental, and collaborative space where you can talk openly about what’s going on for you.
My approach is trauma-informed and person-centred, which means we work at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you. We’ll work together to help you better understand yourself, your experiences, and what you need moving forward.
At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change happens when you feel truly heard.
Taking the first step
Reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re used to dealing with things on your own.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, where you can ask any questions and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.
Training, qualifications & experience
-
BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy: Professional Practice
-
Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
-
Additional training in Trauma-Informed Practice
Alongside my formal training, I gained counselling experience through volunteering with Mind and an organisation supporting unpaid carers, where I worked with adults facing a range of emotional and life challenges.
Prior to qualifying, I volunteered supporting children with additional needs. I also bring ten years of experience working in retail, which has given me vast insight into the pressures of fast-paced, customer-facing roles and the impact work stress can have on wellbeing.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
