About me

Introducing myself as a counsellor

* I am back to working face to face but also still offer telephone and online therapy*

My name is Nova, I am a qualified counsellor. I offer a confidential, non judgemental and welcoming environment for you to talk through any issues. I offer a safe space for you to explore and reflect on any issues that you may be facing, this exploration can help you to understand your emotions and feelings about any concerns that you may have in your life past or present.

Counselling can be long or short term. I have experience of working with issues around anxiety, panic attacks, depression, relationship difficulties, sexual/physical abuse, family difficulties and low self esteem including body image issues and others.

I am an registered member of the BACP. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am GDPR compliant, and am fully insured. I am always working on my continuing professional development and am sure to attend or study online CPD courses.

I have undertaken training to become a qualified Supervisor and now have space to take on supervisees please contact me for more information.

What to expect at assessment.

The first step is usually the hardest, but you have made that, and being heard without judgement can carve the way to healing.  After first contact, we can arrange for an assessment at a convenient time for both you and myself.  This is FREE and can take anything from 10-30 minutes.

This enables you to meet me and ask any questions or explore any concerns over what counselling may involve.  I will ask for some personal details from you and explain why I am requesting these.  I will explain how I safely store all your details and what happens to them after we have finished working together.

We can discuss your goals/needs for counselling and then you can either book in for your first 50 minute counselling session with me on a day and time that suits you (depending on availability) or you can go away and make a decision and get back to me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
