About me

Hi, I'm Nikki.

It takes great courage to consider professional help. I have a background in trauma, anxiety, abuse, PTSD, bereavement, and ADHD and am here to help with whatever is causing you concern in a warm, safe, non-judgmental, supportive place. Therapy with me isn't about analysing you from a distance, it is about being alongside you and working together to make sense of things.

From one human being to another, I would like to say how proud I am of you for looking for some support. It's not easy to admit when we might need some help, or to actively seek it out. It's a really big step. Take your time, you're in control of what happens next, so do things at your own pace. Trauma can have such an impact on every part of our lives. It's never easy, but taking the control back is a great step forward.

It may be that you are here because you are feeling exhausted from keeping everything together for too long.  Maybe you no longer know who you really are. This can happen after years of wearing masks or trying to fit in with everyone else.

Are you living with anxiety and a brain that is never quiet?  A body that doesn't feel like your own and won't work properly? Are you always the strong one, the glue, for everyone else and now there is nothing left for you?

You deserve to have someone to tell your story to, someone to truly hear you and see you; somewhere to set down the weight you have been carrying and share the burden with you!

My aim in therapy is to offer you a safe space where you can look at what’s going on for you, explore what you want and find ways to manage this and move on.

The transformations that can happen within counselling can be life changing. When you open up, share, and reflect on the inner workings of your world with someone, amazing things can happen. With the support of the right person, you can understand, process, and overcome the things that have seemed insurmountable for so long.

I work with adults over 18 face to face as well as online and over the telephone.  I’m a fully qualified Counsellor and a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I am also an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

Therapy with me is calm, collaborative and most importantly, human. I will always be my full, authentic self. Whatever you bring into our sessions, you will be accepted for where you are at and who you are.  We can start figuring things out together.  Therapy can be serious, but I find that there is often space for laughter and moments of lightness in the heavy. Therapy can be deep and serious, but it can also be warm, human and real.

My particular experience and interest is in supporting people living with chronic illness and long-term conditions, ADHD, bereavement and those who are healing from trauma. I also regularly work with anxiety, relationship and family issues, or people who are just struggling with all that life throws at them.

Everyone is welcome!

I am a qualified ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider. This means I am qualified in helping clients with ADHD overcome their emotional, behavioural, relationship and achievement challenges so they can thrive in life.

I have supervision on a monthly basis to ensure I am working within the professional guidelines on the BACP. This ensures good practice allowing us to get the most out of our sessions together.

Through my own experiences of therapy and my training, I’ve been able to discover who I am and find some inner peace for myself, and I’d really like to be able to help you feel a similar way. Real healing can only start when you allow yourself to be seen as you truly are.

I hope that in our work together, you will start to realise that you don't need fixing, you were never broken and that you have always been good enough just as you are.

Before dedicating myself to counselling, I worked in the NHS for over 20 years. In my NHS job, I specialised in supporting people who had long-term physical health problems such as chronic pain and fatigue, cancer, strokes, and heart issues, amongst other problems.

I have volunteered with Macmillan, offering counselling to people with life-limiting illnesses, cancer, and those who have been bereaved, and also with Cruse Bereavement Services.

In my private practice, I work with people with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of presenting issues. My areas I specialise are: anxiety, ADHD, trauma, abuse and PTSD, bereavement.

Whether we are working face to face or on the phone, or online, my focus is on creating a safe space where you can take a breath and be seen and heard.  My room is in a wheelchair accessible property with a large, free car park. It is very close to the train station and has a bus stop outside the door! It is important to me that you feel safe, so I welcome conversations about what you need to feel comfortable and supported. This is your space, not mine. You lead the pace; I walk alongside you.
