About me

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you are used to coping alone or putting others first.

You might be wondering whether therapy is for you, or whether your struggles are “enough” to take up space in a counselling room.

I am a qualified Humanistic counsellor with an integrative, relational approach, who offers a calm, compassionate and non judgemental space for you to explore whatever may be bringing you to therapy. I believe that meaningful change happens through a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood and accepted as you are. My way of working is warm and collaborative, and I place great importance on building trust at a pace that feels right for you.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from yourself or others, or carrying experiences that feel too heavy to manage alone. You do not need to have everything worked out before starting therapy. We can take time to gently make sense of your experiences together, exploring patterns, emotions and relationships in a way that supports greater self-understanding and self-compassion.

I work relationally, which means our relationship forms an important part of the work. I pay close attention to what happens between us, as this can often reflect experiences from other areas of your life. This approach can be particularly helpful if you struggle with relationships, self-worth, shame or long-standing emotional difficulties. I aim to offer a space that feels safe enough for honesty, curiosity and growth, while always respecting your boundaries.

I am a registered member of the BACP and work in line with their ethical framework. Sessions are confidential and focused on your individual needs. Whether you are looking for short-term support or open-ended therapy, we can discuss what feels most helpful for you. Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, and you are welcome to contact me to ask any questions or arrange an initial conversation to see if I am the right fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training is integrative, relational and humanistic. This means I work in a flexible and responsive way, drawing on different approaches while placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of our work.

A humanistic approach focuses on creating a supportive and compassionate space where you can begin to make sense of your experiences in your own time. It recognises that there is no right or wrong way to feel, and that understanding often develops through being met with care, patience and genuine interest. Where uncertainty is welcome, and where thoughts and feelings can be explored without pressure to know or explain everything straight away.

I completed both my undergraduate degree and postgraduate diploma in counselling at York St John University. My training focused strongly on ethical and reflective practice, the importance of the therapeutic relationship, and understanding how early experiences and relational patterns can shape how we relate to ourselves and others. This training was supported by substantial clinical practice and supervision, which continue to inform my work.

Alongside my formal qualifications, I bring over nine years of experience working in supportive roles. This has given me a grounded and compassionate understanding of the impact emotional and relational difficulties can have on everyday life. I am a registered member of the BACP and work in line with their ethical framework, supported by regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
