About me

Therapy can be a place where you feel met, supported, and understood; without pressure to change or “fix” anything before you are ready. It can be a space to slow down, offload, and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing.

My name is Nicora and I am a qualified counsellor offering a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel safe enough to be open and vulnerable. I believe that feeling genuinely heard, valued and understood within a trusting therapeutic relationship can be deeply supportive. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or just in need of somewhere to offload, we can take things one step at a time together.

I understand that beginning counselling can feel overwhelming, especially if it is your first time. You do not need to know exactly what to say or where to begin. I will work with you at a pace that feels comfortable, supporting you to explore whatever feels most important for you.

My approach is integrative, grounded mainly in person-centred therapy, which places empathy, acceptance, and the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the work. Where helpful, I may also draw on psychodynamic ideas to gently explore how past experiences and relationships may be influencing how you feel or relate in the present.

I have experience working with children and adults and individuals with mental health needs. I work sensitively and respectfully with people from all cultural, racial and religious backgrounds, valuing and celebrating diversity.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
