About me
Welcome. The decision to seek therapy can be a challenging one, and finding a therapist aligned with your needs is often a daunting task. I appreciate your arrival here.
I am a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, passionate about supporting people to make better sense of their unique experiences. I have ten years of clinical experience across NHS, voluntary, community and charitable sector services, with a particular focus on inequalities, marginalisation, and supporting racially minoritised/Global Majority communities.
As a woman of Mixed Black British Caribbean and Pakistani heritage, my own identities and experiences have shaped my attention towards the ways that identity, intersectionality, family configurations, social expectations, power, and injustice influence people's lives.
In my therapeutic work, I draw on my lived experience and professional expertise to appreciate the empowerment that comes from understanding ourselves in context, and embracing the fluid and changing natures of our identities, values, and sense-making about our experiences.
I aim to provide a space that is inclusive, warm, person-centred and collaborative, working alongside you to identify your goals and priorities for our work together. I draw on a range of approaches, including systemic approaches, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), ensuring that our work is tailored to your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, PgCert in Evidence-Based Psychological Interventions, and a Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsychD).
In 2024-25, I was part of the first cohort of Race Reflections' pioneering Certificate in Working with Racial Trauma and Race-Based Wounds Using the Foundations of Group Analysis. I am currently continuing my studies to pursue accreditation with the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA).
I have foundation-level accreditation with the Association for Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (AFSP, formerly AFT).

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Research and Influencing Practice:
As a result of my lived - and professional experiences, I am passionate about addressing racialised and structural inequities and using research to drive systems change. This is reflected in my doctoral research on Cultivating Cultural Humility in Clinical Psychology Training, and my paper Disclosing Racial Trauma in Psychological Therapy, which won the inaugural Community-Minded Research Award from Community Trauma UK in 2024.
I have translated this research into practice through consultation, advocacy and reflective practice. I developed a dedicated reflective space - The Role of Race in Helping Relationships - for housing and support staff, psychologists, psychotherapists and wider colleagues to explore how racism and racialisation shape racially minoritised young people's expectations and experiences of support.
I have also adapted this work into conference presentations and training for housing and support staff, psychologists, psychotherapists and academics. I have also delivered this on a wider organisation level and within clinical psychology doctoral training programmes (DClinPsy/PsychD).
