About me

Hello, my name's Nicola, and if you're looking for a counsellor or supervisor, I may be able to help.

Have you noticed that you’ve been feeling more anxious, sad, angry or stressed lately?  Perhaps those feelings are much closer to the surface now and are affecting your day to day life and behaviour….or you may have experienced a loss or a relationship which you feel ready to process?  There may be thoughts or memories of experiences that are troubling you but which you just can’t stop from popping up in your mind…or maybe you feel as though everything is just a bit too much at the moment and it’s becoming quite overwhelming.

Did you know that talking things through with a professional in a safe, confidential space where there is no judgement, can help with these? As a qualified counsellor and supervisor I’ve had over a decade’s experience of supporting clients to recognise, explore and process these and other feelings, thoughts and behaviours.  By accepting that safe space you could be giving yourself the chance to let go of some of that emotional load that might be feeling really heavy by now, and to think about how you’d like to move forward. Engaging in that time could give you the opportunity to take a step back, breathe, and really start to detangle all of those thoughts and feelings, and explore how they are affecting you and your relationships so that you can decide how you want to move forward, and start to regain control.

If you'd like to know more about how this could help you, or to book an initial session, please get in touch.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Training, qualifications & experience

Since qualifying as a counsellor, it's been my privilege to have worked with many clients aged from 6 to 72, each with their own issues and unique path to follow.

I work in my private practice with clients both online and in person from my home office in Horncastle, in the beautiful Lincolnshire wolds. I also support clients in local schools. Previous roles have included being Clinical Lead, Counselling Co-Ordinator, and Safeguarding Lead.

I am also a qualified supervisor, working with both trainee and qualified counsellors, offering both group and individual supervision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Together, we will work at a pace that you can set, and at a depth that you feel comfortable with - you are in control of your own process, and while accepting this control might be something you’re not used to, it is something you can become more accustomed to.  I can give you the space to really explore what’s important for you - whether that’s something you want to change, to take charge of or let go of, you will be the one at the centre of the process which can help you to do all of this and more.  It’s important to know that this space is one where you can feel safe to explore, but like all good adventurers, you won’t be alone - I may not hold the map for your journey but I will still be there, walking with you as you look at where you want to set your gaze and place your feet on that path; together we will look at, examine and understand what obstacles stand in the way of the future you want, of letting go of what is weighing you down, or of becoming the version of yourself that you want to be.
