About me
Hi, my name is Nicola. I am a qualified MBACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist and supervisor.
If you have arrived at a time in your life when you are considering Counselling, it's likely that you may be experiencing some kind of problem, emotional difficulty or life-changing situation.
You may be feeling lost, isolated, stuck, lacking in self-confidence and self-esteem, or feeling that you are back where you started, going around in circles.
It could be relationship issues, emotional challenges such as depression or anxiety or simply that you have reached a point where everything feels overwhelming and just too much. Whatever your particular issue might be, psychotherapy and counselling can help.
I offer a confidential service in Whitby & Staffordshire, working online and via telephone. I offer home visits by arrangement only
My approach is humanistic & integrative. I work in a way that suits the needs of my clients, different issues may require alternative ways of working, but our sessions together remain client-led from the beginning.
I work with adults; sessions can be booked weekly or fortnightly. My working hours are 8.00 am-5.00 pm, weekdays only. Sessions take place via Zoom, telephone or WhatsApp.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to call me for a strictly no obligation friendly chat.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

The Counselling Assessment session is an opportunity for you to share the issues that you would like to explore in counselling. It gives me the opportunity to learn something about your personal history, and I will share with you how I work, which will help you to decide if my approach is right for you. We can then both decide if we would like to work together.
It will involve some form-filling, note-taking & general discussion and will normally last around 35-45 minutes. Assessments are strictly no obligation, and afterwards, you can book your first full session, go home & think about it, or decide not to proceed.
