About me

Maybe you’re the person everyone turns to. But who do you turn to?

I’m Nikki, a fully qualified and insured counsellor and the founder of Calm Tide Therapy, offering in-person counselling in Barnstaple and online counselling across the UK.

You may have spent years being the one who keeps things going - looking after others, managing work and family life, being there for everyone and carrying on even when things feel difficult. From the outside, everything might look fine. But inside, you may feel exhausted, anxious, disconnected from yourself or unsure of what you actually need.

Perhaps you’ve reached a point where you’re questioning things you’ve always accepted. Your relationships, your boundaries, your confidence, your direction in life or the expectations you’ve placed on yourself.

Or perhaps you simply know that you don’t feel quite like yourself anymore. You don’t have to wait until things become unbearable before reaching out.

Counselling offers you somewhere to put down the things you’ve been carrying. A space where you don’t have to be the strong one, have the answers or worry about being judged.

My approach is primarily person-centred and integrative. I believe that you are the expert in your own experience, and my role isn’t to tell you what to do or try to ‘fix’ you. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you, offering warmth, acceptance and curiosity as we explore what is happening for you.

I work with a range of concerns including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, boundaries, grief and loss, life changes and feeling overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life.

You don’t need to know exactly why you’re struggling. You don’t need the right words. And you certainly don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Whether you choose to meet with me in my comfortable therapy room in Barnstaple or online from a place where you feel at ease, my aim is to create a calm, confidential and genuinely accepting space where you can be yourself.

You spend so much of your life being there for everyone else. Perhaps counselling could be a space to be there for yourself.

If something in this has resonated with you, you’re welcome to get in touch. We can start with a free initial telephone consultation for you to ask any questions you may have and see if I am the right fit for your needs.
