About me
Hello, I’m Nickey, an integrative counsellor/therapist who brings warmth, steadiness and real‑world humanity to people navigating the beautiful, messy complexity of being themselves. I’m Black, gay, neurodivergent, a parent and an informal carer — identities and experiences that shape how I show up: grounded, culturally aware, affirming, and deeply accepting.
I work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out, misunderstood or disconnected, and who are exploring identity, belonging, purpose, neurodiversity or disability, relationships, transitions, shame, and the impact of anxiety or depression on daily life. If life feels tangled or heavy, you don’t have to carry it alone.
My approach is steady, thoughtful and collaborative, grounded in genuine human connection and attuned to your lived experience. I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, valued and understood — a space to breathe, explore, unravel, rebuild and reconnect with what matters.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a talking and doing therapist, therapy with me isn’t just sitting and talking (unless that’s what works for you). We might map things out, draw, notice the body, look at routines, or get curious about how your environment, identity and daily life shape your wellbeing. I help you understand not just how you think and feel, but how you live - your roles, relationships, rhythms and the pressures you carry.
I’m attuned to sensory experience, simply in the sense that I pay attention to what feels overwhelming, soothing or activating in everyday life. You don't need to know anything about the eight senses - we explore what helps you feel more settled, comfortable and grounded in a way that's natural and accessible, alongside everything else you bring.
My wider professional background in occupational therapy and public health gives me a deep understanding of how emotions, identity and daily life interact. I’m interested in the whole of you — your relationships, sensory world, executive functioning, fatigue, roles, culture, values and your story.
Counselling qualifications:
- CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
