Nick Hall MBACP
I am an experienced psychodynamic counsellor based in Bedford. I offer weekly individual sessions of therapy on a range of personal issues to adults (18+). I have particular experience helping young adults and men with stress, anxiety and life changes.
I have over seven years experience counselling in both a young persons counselling charity and with adults in an NHS setting. I worked at a senior level with Victim Support for several years and currently manage the development and training for Bedford Counselling and Training.
I work in private practice from the safe and confidential rooms at Bedford Counselling and Training centre.
I undertake an assessment (90 minutes) for each new client and this is a chance to get to know me and say something about what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your background and we will look at the issues that are troubling you now. If, between us, we consider that counselling a helpful option for you, then you can begin counselling sessions with me which will be weekly at the same time and place and will be 50 minutes long.
Psychodynamic counselling is a good option for a range of personal problems including depression and anxiety, relationship issues and life changes. We will work at your own pace and the goals of psychodynamic therapy are increased self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present problems. Through understanding, changes are made, often unconsciously, to better deal with these issues. Psychodynamic therapy is the oldest of talking therapies and has evolved from psychoanalytic theory and there is a body of research that supports the effectiveness of this approach.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I abide by the BACP code of ethics which means I am committed to working safely, ethically and confidentially. I am in regular supervision and invest in ongoing training and professional development.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
