About me
I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. (Reg.MBACP) and I work with adult clients. I work in an integrated way, using approaches which suit the needs and preferences of the individual clients. I offer face to face, telephone and online counselling.
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in the Supervision of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I offer professional supervision to therapists, in addition to my work with clients.
I can work with you over a long term period, eg for long standing difficulties or problems, or using brief therapy in a time limited way, according to your individual needs and choices. The length of the therapy will be discussed in an initial assessment session and reviewed periodically by us.
I also work with couples.
I have over twenty five years experience in a variety of roles in professions working with people people from a wide variety of backgrounds, origins and of different ages. I am able to build positive working relationships quickly.
I work in the Focus Therapy rooms in Sowerby Bridge, near Halifax, which is easily accessible from Halifax, other parts of Calderdale, Huddersfield and Kirklees, Bradford, East Lancashire, including Rochdale, Burnley and Oldham. There is off street parking available. I offer appointment times during the day and also evenings, so people who work 9-5 etc, or those who have caring commitments, can be accommodated. If required, I can work in other locations by agreement.
Choosing a Counsellor, or Psychotherapist can seem daunting and it is important that you are able to express yourself and discuss your difficulties with someone who you trust and with whom you are able to talk freely. If you would like to discuss your requirements please telephone, or email me, or fill in the enquiry form on my website. The initial meeting/assessment can also provide an opportunity for you to decide whether I am the right person to work with you.
My website includes further information about me and and some general information about counselling and psychotherapy.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
