About me
I am a Principal Lead Clinical Psychologist and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. My therapeutic approach centres on understanding a person’s individual experience of the world and the problems they’ve come to live with. This involves us working together to try to understand the particular meaning of one’s difficulties and troubling feelings and how and why such distressing experiences have occurred at this point in life. Such understandings often help people feel less troubled and stuck, for example with depression, anxiety, family issues or traumatic experiences and memories.
I have offered talking therapies to people from a wide variety of backgrounds in Psychology and Psychotherapy Departments for over a decade and have specialised in Adult Mental Health. I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Member (CPsychol) and Associate Fellow (AFBPsS) of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am also a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council. I continue to work within the NHS as a Principal Lead Clinical Psychologist and am a registered member of the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN). I am also a Registered (EuroPsy) Clinical Psychologist with the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have two clinical qualifications: as a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Psychological Society
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
