About me

Welcome to my page.  I am a qualified and BACP registered Person Centred Counsellor. I work from my private practice and I offer a space for you that is met with empathy and warmth. My passion for counselling has evolved from my own experiences and this has given me an insight into how powerful therapy can be when life is at it's most challenging.

I work holistically which means I consider the full range of emotional, mental and physical symptoms of internal conflict and distress. I create a warm welcoming environment for you to speak freely. We can therefore create a therapeutic relationship that enables you to feel heard by me and we can work together to create the conditions required for your healing.

I will enable you to explore your deeper concerns and vulnerabilities in a safe space. I can help you find healthier ways to explore your current path and live life to your full potential. This can mean exploring your emotions, and developing tools and thought patterns that inhibit your capacity to heal. From there, we can work together to enable you to grow confidently into the richness of your life. We can explore your distress, challenges or anxieties and I can walk with you on your journey.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training and qualification is FdSc in Person Centred Counselling.

I have a certificate in Introduction to Transactional Analysis and a Continuing Professional Development Certificate in Working with Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.

I have extensive experience as a Bereavement Counsellor, working with presenting issues such as grief, loss, anxiety, depression, change, anger and diversity issues such as LGBT and suicide. I have also worked in palliative care supporting terminally ill patients and their families.

I have attended workshops and undertaken training in Mindfulness, Dealing with Suicide and Advance Care Planning and have completed Reiki Level 1.

I have also undertaken training at Place2Be children's charity involving Safeguarding, Creative Therapy such as sandtray work and art therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
