About me

A non-judgmental space for clients’ to feel safe is paramount to share difficult feelings and feel listened to.

I draw mainly from a Person-Centred approach to help you explore ways to manage issues that are challenging. Working together collaboratively, at your pace, we look at identifying choices and develop your own inner resources.

We would gently work through the difficulties you are experiencing, understanding their impact on your life and find strategies to work through what may be holding you back from living the life you really want to be living.

Some clients come to me with emotional difficulties such as anxiety, stress, overwhelm, depression, or struggling with low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Others come to therapy with family, relationship, college or workplace challenges. Some are experiencing really difficult emotions around loss or bereavement issues. Sometimes people come for personal development, feeling the 'loss of purpose' in their lives, and experiencing these alone can feel very isolating.

My aim for our work together is to provide a safe, supportive space leading towards a deeper understanding of yourself, gaining clarity around patterns of behaviour that have possibly held you back.

Enhancing self-awareness with a changed perspective, often can open up ideas around new possibilities, exploring what options you have. Helping you to achieve more positive connections with both yourself and others.

I strongly believe given the right support, through learning ways to overcome old beliefs and behaviours, we have a capacity to find our own answers and so develop a sense of self-direction which leads us to more enhanced fulfilment in our lives.

Training, qualifications & experience

CPCAB Diploma -Integrative Therapeutic Counselling

NCPS Accredited member ( National Counselling and Psychotherapy Service).

My Integrative approach includes Psychodynamic , Person-Centred /Humanistic theories and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I adapt my counselling approach according to each client’s individual needs.

I am also trained integrating Creative practice, if clients find it helpful. This can take the form of 'freely' expressing using different media such as drawing, painting, clay work, and stitching. For some this can be therapeutically beneficial if struggling with finding the words to express how they feel.

BACP

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
