Play and Creative Therapist 4-13 Creative Counselling 12-17

About us

Hello, My name is Cherie. I am a Play and Creative Therapist, specialising in working with children and young people aged from 4-16 years. I provide a calm, safe space, supporting my clients to explore their difficult feelings, whilst growing in self-esteem and confidence.

My approach is tailored to the needs and preferences of your child or young person, identified through our initial free consultation. Play Therapy is employed for younger children, while with children from 12 to 16, where appropriate, creative counselling techniques may be more suitable.  All approaches may include the use of the Play Therapy Dimensions model, therapeutic stories, visualisations and meditation. I employ a person centred  approach, allowing your child/young person to lead the process through their choice of  activities including: sand tray work, art, music, clay and role play. This approach is specifically designed for children, who as concrete learners are more able to express their feelings through play, but it is also a highly affective approach used by therapists working with young people as well as adults.

Training, qualifications & experience

My practice draws on extensive experience working with children and their families in a therapeutic role, as well as throughout my teaching career, by providing pastoral support for children and their families. I was also a special educational needs lead practitioner (SENCO). I follow Play Therapy UK’s Ethical Framework, which ensures the wellbeing of your child above all else.
