About me

Sometimes life’s challenges, difficult relationships or the pressures of work and home can leave you feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted or like you’ve lost sight of who you are.

I offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can pause, feel heard and explore what’s going on for you. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, thoughts and feelings and work towards greater clarity, self-understanding and self-acceptance.

You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, self-doubt or feeling that you’re carrying too much on your own. My approach is gentle, authentic and collaborative. I work at a pace that feels right for you, with a strong emphasis on self-compassion and developing a kinder relationship with yourself.

I offer online counselling and in-person sessions from private therapy rooms in Muswell Hill and East Finchley. I also offer a free 15-minute introductory call, with no obligation, so we can talk about what you’re looking for and whether working together feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified, BACP registered counsellor and have completed a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (CPCAB), following a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and earlier CPCAB training in counselling studies and counselling skills.

I work integratively, with a Person-Centred foundation, drawing on Psychodynamic and CBT principles where these may be helpful. I am trauma-informed and place importance on creating a trusting therapeutic relationship in which you feel safe to explore your experiences at a pace that feels manageable.

My counselling experience includes working with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, life changes and feeling overwhelmed. I have also worked with people affected by cancer and with men experiencing difficulties with their mental wellbeing.

Alongside my counselling qualifications, I have completed Mental Health First Aid training and further CPD in Rewind Trauma Therapy. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and regularly engage in supervision and continuing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I believe that counselling is not about being given advice or being told what to do. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to offer a space where you can explore what is happening for you with curiosity, honesty and without judgement.

Sometimes what brings you to counselling in the present can be connected to earlier experiences. Where it feels helpful, we can gently explore these experiences and consider how they may have shaped your relationships, choices, patterns or sense of self.

I also understand that relationships can be complicated. Difficulties with family, partners or other important people can leave us feeling hurt, confused or caught in patterns that are difficult to change. The loss of someone close can also bring unresolved feelings and family difficulties to the surface.

I aim to create a relationship where you feel seen, heard and valued, while giving you the space to be yourself. We can start wherever you are.
