About me
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling with emotions that feel difficult to share with others, you don’t have to face these experiences alone. I am a fully qualified, experienced, BACP-registered psychotherapist offering a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted.
At the heart of my work is a trusting therapeutic relationship where you can speak freely without fear of judgement. Together we can explore what’s troubling you and begin to understand the patterns or experiences that may be shaping how you feel today. My aim is to help you develop greater self-understanding so that life can begin to feel less overwhelming and more manageable.
I welcome people from all backgrounds, ages, genders and sexualities.
I have worked with people from many walks of life: students adjusting to life away from home, young adults starting their working life; women navigating different stages such as motherhood, relationship breakdown, career change or menopause; and those facing bereavement, anxiety, depression, or questions around identity and sexuality.
Clients often describe me as a thoughtful and patient listener. Many experience relief simply from being able to share things they may have carried alone for a long time.
How can counselling help?
As a psychodynamic therapist, I offer a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Sometimes we will focus on the difficulties you are facing in the present. At other times we may gently reflect on earlier experiences that may still be influencing how you feel or relate to others today. Many of the challenges we encounter can be connected to patterns formed in the past, often without our awareness.
By making sense of these patterns together, many people begin to feel less stuck and gain greater clarity about themselves and their relationships.
Part of our work will also involve paying attention to our therapeutic relationship, which can offer valuable insight and a safe place to understand feelings as they arise. By exploring difficulties at their roots, it becomes possible to experience greater freedom in the present and move forward with more awareness and choice.
What to expect in a first session
I understand that contacting a therapist for the first time can feel like a big step, so I offer a free 15-minute phone call. This gives you the opportunity to briefly share what’s bringing you to therapy and ask any questions about how I work, fees or availability.
If it feels right, we can then arrange an initial 50-minute session where we explore your concerns in more depth and think about what you hope to gain from counselling. This also gives you a chance to see how it feels to talk with me.
If we both feel that we could work well together, you can then decide whether you would like to continue.
If you're considering therapy, you’re very welcome to email me to arrange a convenient time for a call.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Certificate and Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from the Counselling Foundation, Hertfordshire and I am continuing my training towards a Master’s-level psychotherapy qualification.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a psychotherapist for a charity supporting a wide range of clients in St Albans and Luton.
Previously, I spent 17 years working as a BANT-registered Nutritional Therapist, supporting individuals to improve their health and wellbeing. This experience also gave me insight into the relationship between nutrition, emotional wellbeing and disordered eating.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
