About me

I'm a fully qualified counsellor, having worked within the NHS and private practice.  I can help you with anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, feelings of low self esteem or sadness.  You can get support and you don’t need to experience this alone.  I will endeavour to make sense of your feelings, behaviours, and difficulties in a warm, confidential therapeutic space.  This will help to build your confidence so that you can move forwards and rediscover your sense of enjoyment.

Exploring your emotions and thoughts will increase your self-awareness. Understanding what is causing pain and difficulty can help you to identify patterns, so that gradually you will have new perspectives and can make positive choices, enabling you to lead a happier more fulfilling life.

My background working as part of an NHS counselling team has provided me with experience in helping people with a broad range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, low self esteem, family and relationship issues, sexual orientation, divorce, loss, post-natal depression, and trauma. I developed an interest in psychotherapy during my time working as a volunteer counsellor for Childline, which has enabled me to help younger people and recognise their current challenges.

Training, qualifications & experience

My Practice is client centred, we will focus on your agenda and progress at your pace. My experience working in private practice, and with the NHS means that I’m able to support individuals from a diverse range of ethnicities, ages, and cultural backgrounds. I have worked with adults and young people from the age of sixteen.

I trained as a person-centred counsellor, and use this approach tailored to your individual needs. I have expertise in short- and long-term counselling.  I offer online and in person counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

My First session - what to expect?

I offer a free initial telephone conversation. Our sessions will last for fifty minutes, at a fixed regular time in a confidential setting. Our first session is an opportunity for you to tell me what brings you to counselling, and for me to listen. It will focus on what you’re hoping to get from therapy, and for us to outline how we might go about that process.

The Practice is next to Hinchley Wood train station which provides private parking.  It is easily accessible from the A3 and close to bus routes.
